Current Distribution Status of DEC Tablets for Endemic Countries

Over 1.3 billion tablets for 27 countries

as of March 2018

  • In November 2010, Eisai agreed to provide 2.2 billion DEC (diethylcarbamazine) tablets free of charge through WHO to lymphatic filariasis endemic countries worldwide by 2020
  • In August 2013, Eisai's DEC tablets obtained prequalification from WHO, the first Neglected Tropical Disease treatment to receive prequalification in the world
  • In October 2013, DEC tablet provision commenced from our Vizag plant
  • In April 2017, Eisai announced that it would continue to provide DEC tablets to endemic countries that need them beyond 2020, until complete elimination is achieved
