Environmental Action Across the Eisai Group
Guided by our hhc (human health care) concept, Eisai Group gives first thought to patients and the people in the daily living domain and seeks to increase the benefits that health care provides to them. Through this commitment, we strive to realize social good by relieving anxiety over health and reducing health disparities.
People’s health and well-being are underpinned by a healthy global environment. The Eisai Group therefore works to reduce the environmental impact of its business activities while encouraging each employee to deepen their understanding of environmental issues and translate that awareness into action in their daily lives and work.
With this in mind, to mark World Environment Day on June 5, 2026, sites around the world organized a wide range of employee-led environmental activities to deepen employees' understanding of environmental issues and encourage them to take action in their daily lives.
Bringing Climate Action Closer to Home in Japan
In Japan, sites organized activities centered on the theme of “Climate Action,” providing employees with opportunities to see climate change-related environmental issues as part of their everyday lives and reflect on the kind of actions they can take.
At the Kawashima Industrial Park, Kashima Plant, Tsukuba Research Laboratories and Headquarters, employee cafeterias served special green-themed lunch menus, while the Kobe Research Laboratories decorated its refreshment room in green. At Sunplanet Co., Ltd.’s Kashima Office, employee volunteers also took part in a site-cleanup.
An environmental education instructor was also invited to lead a seminar on climate action. Employees learned about the impacts of climate change on our daily lives and ecosystems, as well as Eisai Group’s approach to climate action. Through quizzes and familiar examples, participants explored practical environmental actions they could take in their everyday lives.
Diverse Environmental Activities Across Our Global Sites
Our overseas sites also organized a diverse range of activities reflecting the characteristics of their local communities and environments, encouraging employees to deepen their understanding of environmental issues and consider actions they can take in their everyday lives.
In the United States, employees participated in activities including tree planting, nature observation, building birdhouses and recycling awareness initiatives. Through these activities, employees deepened their understanding of biodiversity and environmental conservation and explored ways to translate that awareness into everyday action.
In China, activities included nature observation, screenings of environmental videos, distribution of a handbook introducing environmentally responsible actions, and visits to environmental facilities. Employees were also encouraged to participate in practical initiatives such as turning off lights during lunch breaks and digital cleanups, helping to turn environmental awareness into everyday action.
Across the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, employees participated in a photo contest with the theme “Colors of Nature.” In the United Kingdom, events focused on sustainable actions and screenings of environmental documentaries provided opportunities for employees to deepen their understanding of the global environment.
In India, employees planted trees, while their children took part in an environmental poster creation contest. Activities also reached local communities through tree planting and the distribution of reusable bags at nearby public schools, extending environmental engagement beyond employees to their families and local communities.
In Indonesia, an expert delivered a lecture on waste management, complemented by hands-on activities including making eco-enzyme from organic waste and installing biopores to promote rainwater infiltration into the ground. Through these practical activities, employees deepened their understanding of resource circulation and waste management.
Turning Individual Action into a More Sustainable Future
The activities held around the world gave employees opportunities to connect environmental challenges—including climate change, biodiversity and resource circulation—with their own lives and work, and to consider actions they can take starting close to home.
Eisai Group will continue to value its connections with local communities around the world while supporting environmental initiatives across its sites. By turning individual awareness into meaningful action, we will continue working toward a sustainable society in harmony with the global environment.
