At Eisai, based on our human health care (hhc) corporate concept, employees around the world spend 1% of their working hours with patients (socialization) to understand the emotions of patients and create value for patients (hhc activities). The hhc Initiative is an annual event that recognizes outstanding achievements among the innovative activities carried out by our employees from the patients’ perspective.

For this year’s hhc Initiative, 563 “hhc Driven Innovation activities” and 57 "Eisai Innovation Papers” were submitted from Eisai employees around the world. All of them were based on themes related to socialization with patients and the people in the daily living domain. After a screening process, a total of 14 projects were directly recognized by CEO Naito, including:

  • Initiatives aimed at expanding access to treatment for people with Alzheimer's disease, including the development of a dementia ecosystem and improvement of diagnostic and treatment pathways (in countries such as Japan, the United States, China, Italy, and Germany)
  • Programs aimed at disease awareness and creating community spaces for people with dementia and their families (Spain, Vietnam, and South Korea)
  • A 15-year initiative towards the elimination of lymphatic filariasis (India)

These activities let us deeply understand patients’ true needs and keep us strongly motivated, thus becoming the source of our innovation.

Eisai will continue to strive for innovation, driven by a strong desire to relieve patients’ anxiety over health that we come to understand through these hhc activities, with our ultimate aim of empowering people to realize their fullest lives.
