Eisai's Kawashima Industrial Park Receives ISO 14001 Certification

Tokyo (March 2, 1999) - Eisai Co., Ltd. of Tokyo (President and CEO: Haruo Naito) today announced the Kawashima Industrial Park receipt of ISO 14001 certification for drug substance, drug formulation, and environmental management systems on February 24, 1999

This certification was published by the investigational organization, Koatsu-gasu Hoan Kyokai (KHK) registered with the Japan Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment (JAB). In response to the earth's environmental problems and an international concern for increasing standards, international businesses recognize the importance of environmental management and evaluation. With the receipt of the ISO 14001 certification, the Kawashima Industrial Park has reached a recognized international level of environmental management practice.

At present the Misato Plant (Saitama Prefecture), and the Kashima Plant (Ibaraki Prefecture) are in preparations to receive certification. In the future maintenance of a environmental management system and the continuation of improvements are planned to strengthen our independent efforts at environmental preservation.
