 Drug price
In Japan, drug prices are defined as “the price established for each brand as the average expenditure per unit needed for provision of drugs by health institutions and other buyers.” They are the officially fixed prices of pharmaceuticals for medical use stipulated by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare and are the prices used as the standard for calculating fees when using health insurance to pay medical faclities. Drug prices are calculated based on “Drug Price Calculation Criteria” established by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
