Understanding Eisai

Introduction to Eisai Shares

Becoming an Eisai Shareholder

Rights of an Eisai Shareholder
Shareholders who own at least one trading unit (100 shares) of Eisai shares can vote on the company's managerial policies and elect directors to oversee the company's management by exercising their voting rights. Eisai holds its general shareholders meeting in late June each year, avoiding the day on which many companies hold shareholders meetings.

While matters such as issue of share warrants and the election of directors are determined at this meeting, the exercise of voting rights by shareholders is also a form of indirect participation in the corporate management of Eisai, which places the highest priority on the creation of value for both patients and shareholders. The general shareholders' meeting also serves as a forum for shareholders to ask questions directly to management concerning the current status of the company and future policies. Voting rights can be exercised via mail or the internet.

Distribution of Income to Shareholders
All Eisai shareholders can receive distributions of the profits that the company generates in the form of dividends (right to demand distributions of profits). With stable and continuous dividends as its basic policy, Eisai has steadily increased its dividend payments. Eisai has set a goal of keeping a dividend on equity (DOE) rate of 8% or more in future (the dividend payout ratio multiplied by return on equity (ROE)).
