Tokyo (March 26, 2001) - Eisai Co., Ltd. of Tokyo (President and CEO: Haruo Naito) announced the establishment of a holding company, Sunplanet Co., Ltd., effective April 2001 which will include the current Eisai subsidiaries of Seiansha Co., Ltd., Takehaya Co., Ltd., Kawashima Co., Ltd., Gakuen Shoji Co., Ltd., and Eland Co., Ltd.
The established company, Sunplanet Co., Ltd., will serve as a holding company for the five 100 percent owned subsidiaries, establish a group company structure, and have the objectives of maximizing company value, promoting managerial efficiency and increasing the competitiveness of operations as well as providing group company synergy among the functions of the companies.
Sunplanet Co., Ltd. will promote growth of the companies' operations, ensure managerial resource efficiency in operations, assimilate overlapping activities, strengthen the business of focus of the companies' operations, and consider group company consolidation.
