Eisai  Eisai S.A.S., France

Eisai S.A.S., Eisai's sales company in Paris, France, established the Eisai Foundation in France in May 2002 to realize the corporate mission of hhc. The foundation's mission is to support the care of elderly patients and their families.
One of the foundation's initial activities was an auction of paintings held in September 2002. The returns realized from the auction were used to fund three projects, thus marking the start of foundation activities for improving the Quality of Life of the elderly.

The first project was establishment of the "Florence Nightingale Award" for persons conducting outstanding activities that contribute to the care of elderly patients with Alzheimer's disease. Award winners are given the opportunity to tour overseas healthcare facilities specializing in the care of patients with Alzheimer's disease. The award's aim is to enable the winners to acquire a broad-based perspective and new knowledge for allowing them to provide still higher quality care in the future.
The second project was the "Architecture Project" for promoting thoughts on the ideal design for hospitals treating Alzheimer patients. The French Ministry of Social Affairs, Labour and Solidarity supported the project, and participants included politicians, registered nurses, patients, directors of nursing homes, architects, and others.
The third project was the "Intergeneration Project" aimed at strengthening the ties among people of different generations. One of the themes in the project was: "What impressions do you have of elderly people you have met to date?" Well-known French writers as well as elementary school children were asked to write about their impressions. The aim was to share thoughts about elderly persons at levels that go beyond age and generation.
